I’d of sent it back but it was easier to simply replace it at Wall-Mart

I just received my PUR CR-6000 and there was no filter in the box. I called their customer service number and they agreed to send me one but said it could take from 2 to 3 weeks to receive it. As far as I’m concerned, this adds insult to injury. It’s bad enough that there was no filter in the box but then they’re going to make you wait an additional 2-3 weeks for them to send you one? This doesn’t show a very high degree of concern for the customer does it?
I would think if PUR (now owned by Proctor and Gamble and certainly not a struggling company) wanted to make sure they didn’t get reviews like this posted online (I told them I bought it from Amazon) that they would do their utmost to compensate the customer for their troubles by at least providing expedited shipping and a free extra filter or something. They have to ship me one anyway – how much extra would it cost them? I’m sure it would have cost them a lot less than what it’s now going to cost them in sales due to people reading this review and deciding not to buy it.
Is it any wonder why people hate dealing with corporations like this when all they seem to care about is making and “saving” money regardless of how they’ve screwed their customers in the process? They apparently think profits are more important than customers. They’ve got the cart before the horse… I’d like to see them make any profits without customers. If they keep treating customers like this they just may get the opportunity to try!

The first thing you need to know is that the filter only lasts for two months. So don’t think that you’re only expense is going to be the initial purchase. I mainly use this for ice cubes and making coffee. The water out of my tap comes out pretty cloudy. It works well for what I need.

Its better than nothing. The good things I notice is that it does filter water. Thats pretty much it. As far as how long the filter lasts, I would say 3-4 months. The main problem I have is having to refill the thing. In fact, its pretty much the reason I want to switch to the faucet mount. You pretty much have to refill it every two glasses of water if you want to keep it full.

This pitcher uses the CRF 950Z element. The CRF950Z replaces the CRF950, which worked for us for years. The Z has no indicator, so you have to guess as to when to replace it. This is quite difficult if your consumption and household varies.
In addition, it stops flowing quite often. Sometimes flow can be reinstated by banging, shaking, or removing it and shaking it. Sometimes not.
Due to the non-availability of the old style filters, my Pur pitcher went in the trash and we are now using a Brita.
