Our well water was tested and was found to have 38ppb of arsenic in it, the EPA limit is only 10ppb. We don’t drink the water, and we don’t let our kids take baths in it, but we do shower and do our laundry in it. How dangerous is it (when you’re not drinking it?) Also, is our landlord required to spend the money to fix it? I know there are filters available but they are expensive. Thanks for the advice – please let me know where you got your information from! Thanks!

Landlord is required, by law, to provide potable (drinkable) water for you. You can report to health department. They will notify the landlord to correct the problem. Landlord MUST do this, and landlord must pay the cost to do it. It is not to be at your expense.
You should be entitle to rent refund for time you did not have water. If necessary, Housing Authority can help with that.
Check what your local regulations are, and do some web searches to see what the hazards are. I used to live in a community where arsenic in the water was a concern. It didn’t used to be, because it’s only fairly recently that testing could show such small amounts, but a whole development was held up because the water that had been considered potable when the development started was tested again with the new tests, and they had to re-do the water supply so they could keep building. That’s the same water that other houses had been using for many years, with naturally-occurring arsenic in it.
