Re: Under-Sink RO Water Filter Systems: When daily water production level drops a lot, what’s going on here?

This is a two-chamber, under-sink, Reverse Osmosis water filtration system that is under a year old. The two water filters and the water bladder were replaced by the service agent only 3 months ago. Out of nowhere, the amount of filtered water this system generated started slowing to a crawl to where it is not very useful and we are having to buy bottled water in the interim which defeats the purpose of having a home water filtration system.

I know the filters have to be replaced periodically but we have run on previous filters for a lot longer than 3 months in the past with no interruption or slow down of water flow. Running too long on the same filter will degrade the water taste and quality, but thus far, it has never slowed the water output or flow.

Besides calling the service agent to come charge a premium and try to sell us overpriced water filters we may not need, I am availing Yahoo! Answers in hope someone may have a different idea as to what might be going on here. I’ve checked the turn valves and all seem to be in the fully open position. There is just not enough production of filtered water now. Could it be a clog? Or is this what NORMALLY happens when it is time to change the filters?

It’s possible the current filters got fouled somehow. Take the filter info to your nearest home improvement store and buy the filters yourself. It really is an easy fix for someone with a brain…just don’t let your husband do it (*grins*)
