  i only gave it 4 stars because if i would have shopped around, i would have been able to get it for much less money due to the shipping costs which i didnt notice/realize untill after the order was submitted ($7.63 to have it shipped versus about $0.60 for my local sales tax if i would have bought it locally).

• You need this to keep your K&N filters in top condition, hopefully it will also work for Fram AirHog filters, as the Fram cleaner kit is much harder to find !

• K&N filters are far better than the standard paper filters and do last a lifetime, but they still need to be maintained. The cotton fibers do get dirty and the air flow and protective value of the filter goes down over time and they need to be cleaned and re oiled. This is the kit you need for that purpose.

  I bought this filter for my 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V. The cabin air filter hadn’t been changed in a very long time, so it was due. It was very easy to remove the glove box and get at the filter.

  This filter was a perfect fit. However, it must have weighed twice what the original filter weighed– which is only a problem because of how dense the material is. It is essentially cheap cardboard with some fibers glued onto one side of it (there is a proper top and a bottom to a cabin air filter). The end result is a lower flow because of the huge restriction it imposes when compared to your OEM filter, which is a much more flexible material.

  The restriction may not be enough to spend another $30 for an OEM version, though, since there is still a reasonable amount of flow coming through the vents. All in all, an OK product, but nothing to really get excited about.

  I typically use only original parts for my vehicle, unless it’s an item
  
  that I feel is an upgrade over the factory part.
  
  In this case.. it’s a dust filter.
  
  It works. It’s cheaper. Everyone is happy.
  
  I can’t say how easy the installation was, because it varies by vehicle and your skill level.
  
  For my car (03 Nissan Altima).

  Only difficulty was determining which way is up or down.
  
  I have to admit, after trying to figure it out for all of 2 min.. I went with F… it and just stuck it in turned my fan on and it worked.
  
  Has been working fine for the last several months. I don’t know about the baking soda but but so far it seems to work at least as well as the Nissan filter I had been using.
  
  (I could get like 3 of these with the price of the Nissan filter)

• can you use household water filters to remove flavor or color from other liquids?
  I have heard that this is possible. Someone I know pours cheap Vodka through a Brita water filter and supposedly it comes out like the expensive stuff because the impurities are removed (but it’s still vodka).

  Pouring juice through a filter will not turn it into water.
