Questions On Air and Water Filter Purifiers
Saturday May 19th 2012

Good stuff, Aquaman. Very helpful overview of whole house filtration. Can you do one on water softeners too? I’m trying to figure out when it makes sense to use a softener and when a regular water filter like the ones in the video will work. Also, can you show more about flow rates, pressure drops, and other specs on your next video. There are so many water filters with difference specs that it is hard to know how to compare and choose the right water filter.
GReat job aquaman. I hope you do more videos concerning water filtration
Right now we have a behemoth “iron filter” in our basement (bacterial rust in our water). We don’t maintain it at all. I just assume it is working. Between it and our water softener, our water is ok… we live with some odor. Would you think Big Blue would be a replacement for that or an addon to that? Perhaps I should have my water tested to answer that question.
A softener, especially on well water should always have a sediment pre-filter, which will serve to increase softener efficiency, by eliminating the challenges sediment poses to the softener resin bed. If you have taste or odor issues, then a post-carbon cartridge will be a really nice addition. The benefits will be particularly pronounced in the shower where heat exaggerates odor problems. Drinking water will be significantly improved as well.
Aquaman – Great presentation! Would a filter system like this replace the need for a water softener, or should I use it in conjection with my water softener?
Very helpful tips. Thank you.
What a wonderful video with great information! Thanks for the education – great job!!
