Video instructions on replacing the cabin air filters on the Mazda Mazdaspeed 3. I believe it may be the same as the regular Mazda 3 and maybe even the Mazdaspeed 6. I recommend doing this after 30k miles or so. Mine had 46k miles and the filters were black.

Awesome tutorial, thanks for the help! I just replaced mine today on my ’07 Mazda3 – at first I tried to skip several steps and go straight for the air filter cover… then realized quickly why you decided to take everything apart! The Mazda dealer quoted me about 100 bucks to do this same service. It may be a PITA, but it’s still a hell of a lot cheaper to do it yourself…. great work!
I got about two minutes into this video and even by then I was like “Oh, the hell with it.” Why put something replaceable in such a horrible location?! I replaced the cabin filter in 30 seconds on a Civic, and I’d never even done it before! Still, very useful video, but wow.
Thanks for posting the video! Just did this on my 2007 Mazda 3 which has 41,000 miles and man what a pain in the a_ _ this was! My air filters were pretty clean compared to yours at 46,000 miles. I keep it on recirculation a lot so that might be why. I only spent $20 on the filters so I guess I did save a little over having the stealership do it. Whoever the Mazda engineer was that designed the location of the cabin air filter needs to be canned!
I watched the video. then go and immediately got into the car. but I’ve done without dismantling the dashboard.thaks.greeting from Turkey..
Just came home from Jiffy Lube and looked up Cabin Air Filter Replacement for Mazdaspeed 3 because i asked them how to cabin air filter was and they say this car has no cabin filter on it. Now i know why they told me that. This aint no “Jiffy” process. Excellent video and thanks for showing me where the filter is. I knew this car had to of had one all along!
After 4 years of owning the car, I changed mine a few hours ago and it was PITA …… Mazda should have designed this AC system in such a way that replacement of the cabin filter will be easy and straight forward with just a few screws. However, I still love my Mazda 3 after the aggravation of this type of install.
Man thats a lot of work lol. I’m just going to buy the parts and get it installed by my mechanic. Thanks for the vid!
Great video. Just did this on my 06 mazda3, all thanks to your helpful video. In my car there is no need to remove the glove box, but it gives you much less space to work in, so I still recommend doing it. I pulled a ton of leaves and junk out of there. Much needed service! Thanks again!
Thanks man for this video! it help me so much! Gracias, me ayudo bien brutal. muy buen video!
Just did this on a 2006 Mazda 5. Much easier. No need to remove glove box, right kick panel or anything to do with the fuse box. Just remove the panel under the glove box and the left kick panel. Then the 4 screws on the filter door. Spent more time looking in the shop vac for the glove box screws that I accidently sucked up than on the filters.
Wow. That’s a ridiculous amount of work. Why does Mazda have to make things so difficult?
Awesome video! Thanks so much.Couldn’t have done it without the video. Some quite fiddly hand manipulations going on!
All I can say is “Thank You” MazdaSpeedy3. I had my 18 year old daughter do the filter change out. Thanks to you it went smoothly. She did not have any parts left over. I bought her a ’06 Mazda3 with 35K miles, presently 55K and it was time, the air conditioner was suffering. The filter was plugged with particulate. For anyone out there that has a cooling issue always check the filter, just like your central air at home. You’ll look silly if the repair guy says “It was only the airfilter”!
Man! you are a life saver. you made what could have been a very difficult job into an easy one. i had even gone to the library to access alldata but the instructions were crap. thanks!
@MazdaSpeedy3 thats excellent. could u please show the video for mazda 626 if poss. thanks
Thanks for the video. Just finished up on my speed. Everything actually goes pretty smoothly until I got to the metal rack where the circuit board hangs. I could not get those bolts off for the life of me! So I ended up just having to bend the metal piece on the left as far right as I felt comfortable…and was able to finish. Thanks again.
How much are cabin filters & can you find one at a retail place(not the dealership)? My Mazda dealership wants to charge me $100 for them to do this..that’s not happening haha.
only mazda speeds? or 2006 Mazda3i 2.0? does it have one.
Thank you for this video. I just changed my 2008 Mazda 3i Touring.
This was great. Thank you. I just replaced mine today. It took a little while but I feel good about saving the money and learning how to do it myself. Next time I will be much quicker.

Thanks a lot for your great video, it was very useful. I have just completed the replacement of mine on a Mazda 3 2007. The fuse box has a few more plugs but that was the only difference. It is hard to believe that designers do such a poor job for something that needs to be replaced on a regular basis…Except if the point is to have us spend money at the dealership! Thank a lot again.
I have cabin filters to pick up this afternoon for my 09′ Speed3. I had no idea what kind of undertaking I had gotten myself into! Good thing I like tedious work! Thanks for the vid bro.
I was thinking about doing this job myself, but I’m now convinced it falls under the heading of “Can’t I Pay Somebody Else To Do This For Me?”. Thank you very much for the video!
thx for the video but it looks like a complete pain in the ass, so i guess i’ll pay the 75 bucks for the dealer to change it.
